About Penguin Donuts

Penguin Donuts is a donut shop in Long Beach, California. It is listed at 1600 E Anaheim St, Long Beach, CA 90813, which places it among the local businesses of Long Beach that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 4 am–11 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Penguin Donuts at (562) 218-0597; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I would leave less stars if I could, I don't know what in the health food violation is going on here. The place smells like fish. There was a man sitting outside by the doorway, I thought he was homeless, he works there or maybe is the husband. Nobody was at the counter, the selection looked awful. He came in and started knocking on the counter saying "hello!". The old Asian woman popped up from behind the counter, she was sleeping on the floor back there. I reluctantly chose a donut, they all looked bad and it was 230pm but google said they were open until 11pm, she said "no, that's day old". I tried another, nope also day old, one more same thing. I said, okay, so what's not day old? She told me only the croissants and some raspberry pastry. They all look like they had been sat on. I just said, no, thank you and walked out.

some top-tier donuts, apple fritter and freebie donut holes were lovely: decent spice, big apple chunks, and a glaze that wasn't teeth-shattering sweet for both of em. the dough was soft with a bit of chew, not airy or a brickβ€”just solid, good donuts. the thai tea though, yikes; overly sweet yet watered down, and full of loose tea leaves that the worker reassured as "normal" [not for me 😭], seems like hella sugary drinks are the norm here from other reviews, so i'll stick to the pastries..

Literally the only reason I would say you shouldn't go here, is because I want to keep this secret spot for myself. It's WILD to me that someone would say ANYTHING negative about their pricing. This place is sooooo affordable, that I literally made a joke about it "breaking the bank" today (2 donuts and a coffee for $6? Yes please!). Not only are they affordable, but they are generous! 2 out of 3 times, they gave me something small for free. Plus everything is so good! The donuts and pastries are fluffy and not overwhelmingly sweet, which is a common problem I have with other donut places... and don't get me started on the coffee. That's really what brings us back in every time. It's better than starbucks, at half the price, and you're supporting local... And last, but certainly not least, is the service. These lovely ladies NEVER fail to make me feel like their service is exceptional. They greet every single customer genuinely and warmly upon entry with the cutest smiles, and wait patiently for you to make your selection (while still not being overbearing). Honestly, I don't even know the shop owner's names, and yet they feel like friends. That is how welcoming they are. And when
